What is social justice?

“Social justice is the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities." - National Association of Social Workers

Which organizations does Ally Gear support?

We donate to organizations that support social justice. So far, we've given to:

Equal Justice Initiative. From their web site, "The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society."

Mount Tamalpais College, providing a world-class education to students who are incarcerated at San Quentin. Mt Tam College's fundamental belief in human dignity and potential underpins their life-changing work to educate, cultivate critical thinking, and expand opportunities.

Girls Inc of Alameda County, who inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through direct service and advocacy.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Whether it’s achieving full equality for LGBT people, establishing new privacy protections for our digital age of widespread government surveillance, ending mass incarceration, or preserving the right to vote or the right to have an abortion, the ACLU takes up the toughest civil liberties cases and issues to defend all people from government abuse and overreach.

What is your advocacy work?

We were asked to design and produce a tshirt for the Justice for Mateo movement, a local initiative to respond to police harassment in Marin County, California. Our red, black, and pale blue shirts were worn at a march and featured in the local paper. Click here to buy a shirt at cost. For more than 10, please contact us about bulk pricing options.

We were honored to get to be involved in such an important cause and we are happy to do the same for other groups.
